Baby Cohen has arrived!

Cohen John Chap made his arrival into the world
on November 16th, 2010 at 10:46 a.m.
Cohen weighed 7 lbs. 7 oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long.
It was love at first sight for Eric and I!
He is absolutely perfect!
...
On Monday afternoon we checked into the hospital to be induced.
We began pitocin at 4 pm and they broke my water at about 5.
From there the progress was quite slow.
At about midnight I was dilated to 4 cm
and decided to get the epideral so I could get some rest.
I was able to get some rest but had nurses coming in and out
through the night making it a bit hard to sleep.
After next to no progress overnight (only at 5 cm),
it was time to make a decision...
An attempt to turn his little head
to help him move down or a c-section.
The Dr. successfully was able to move his head
a bit which made things move much faster!
In an hour I went from 5 cm to 8 cm.
15 minutes later I was to 9 1/2 cm.
Time to get this baby out...
About an hour later our little guy arrived!
Overall the labor was slow but not too awfully bad.
I feel very lucky that it went as well as it did.

Cohen has been an amazing baby!
He has the cutest little lamb squeak of a cry.
He cries rarely...
when he wants his diaper changed or if he is hungry.
He is very content and laid back.
He has been a champ at breastfeeding!
....
We couldn't ask for anything more perfect!
We are so in love and enjoying every second of being parents!
What an amazing gift!

38 weeks

Another week has past...we have reached 38 weeks!
Baby Chap is doing well.
He is measuring right at 38 weeks and
has a healthy heartbeat in the 130's.
...
On my end things are a little shaky.
My blood pressure took quite a jump to 140/88 yesterday.
We spent the evening getting some tests run
(which all came back normal.)
Due to my blood pressure,
I have been put on modified bedrest
and will be going back on Monday
for some additional testing and montioring of the baby.
...
We will keep you posted on what we find out Monday.
We are ready for our little guy to arrive!

37 weeks

37 weeks...
We have made it another week!
We had our weekly appt. yesterday
and we are moving right along.
Baby Chap is measuring right on at 37 weeks.
His heartbeat remains in the 130's.
We made a tiny bit of progress...
1 cm dilated and 70% effaced.
My blood pressure still remains the same as well.
I will continue to monitor my blood pressure
to be sure it doesn't go up any further.
...
I believe he is getting me ready for having very little sleep:)
He continues to push on my ribs everynight.
I find myself up about 2 to 3 times a night
to get him to go back down!
No contractions yet...maybe by next week?!?

Pokornowski Family Shower

I had my last baby shower a couple weeks ago.
Eric's aunts Joyce and Lois threw me a
Pokornowski family shower.
It was nice getting to spend time with his family.
We had a yummy brunch...egg bake, cheesy potatoes, fruit...
And a delicious cake to top it off!
We received many wonderful gifts for our little guy!
